Tried a game of War of the Ring with
Shen and
Chester (I was Free People and they were the Shadow Armies). Relatively early in the War, Gandalf left the Fellowship to go convince the North of the danger of the Shadow's armies, and perished while defending Bree against the Witch-King. Soon aftewards, the Shire was covered in darkness as well. The Shadow Armies even began to lay siege to the Grey Havens, but did not really press the attack. Later, Minas Tirith fell as well, but Aragorn (as King), Gimli, Legolas, and Boromir held fast in Dol Amruth as the Shadow Army dashed themselves repeatedly against the stronghold. They even managed to slay the Witch-King in the process, but the Mouth of Sauron took over instead. Gandalf the White returned to Lorien, where he observed for possible movement against the Elves, who never actually stirred to war. Rohan was never touched either, but was convinced to build an army for liberating the Gondorian lands. Through all this, the Fellowship itself was revealed early, but hid themselves again quickly before declaring themselves and resting in Lorien. Afterwards, they headed straight to Mount Doom, on the steps of which Merry sacrificed himself to protect the Ringbearers. Frodo himself nearly didn't make it, but thanks to Bilbo's Song, had the fortitude to toss the ring in the Crack and destroy Sauron forever. The dwarves were content to sit quietly, although they did lose Ered Luin to the army that sacked the Shire.
Afterwards, went to Theatre Rice. Arrived early, sat by myself, and got myself a center seat again. Talked to Sam again briefly afterwards and did see
Catherine after the show this time. They finally added a serious skit again, which was good, even if it's depressing. Improv was alright, and they ended with a movie spoof again (this time with the horror genre). Oh, and they played Yatta several times during the show. :D
