Nanaca crash
POSTED AT 04:02 AM in General

http://www.geocities.jp/lledoece/nanaca-crash.html

For those who like to play those online flash high score games, this one's good. Only managed about 3000 or so, but there are people who've manage a lot further. Basic rules of the game are like this:

1) To start, click at the angle you want, hold the button till the power's at what you wnat.
2) You can do three upper aerial boosts, only when the guy's descending.
3) You can do an infinite (need to recharge) lower aerial boosts, but only when ascending.
4) Hitting guys is generally bad
5) Hitting girls is generally good, except for 1, which ends the game, and another girl who's both bad and good (more often bad)
6) If the girl's face is in the special box, clicking when the guy hits her gives a massive boost
7) For the girl that blocks girls, if it has a V.S. in the box, clicking will also give the boost instead of voiding the girl's boost.

Theatre Rice!
POSTED AT 12:49 AM in General

Yay, Sam Ou's finally in it! But I thought he graduated... isn't this his 10th semester now?

On the dilemma of going there early or late. Going there early is boring, as I'm usually the only one willing to do this. Going there later means less than ideal seats.

Cheaper bus fares

Yay, so the bus fare for grocery shopping is only $1.75. Just pay an extra $0.25 for the transfer and that's my ride home.

American History
POSTED AT 12:44 AM in General

Karen gave me a link to a blog with this as an entry. Thought it was funny.

American History
A smart Japanese child in an American School class.. on world historical events!!

It was the first day of school and a new student named Suzuki, the son of a Japanese businessman, entered the fourth grade.

The teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing some American history:- *Who said 'Give me Liberty, or give me Death?'

She saw a sea of blank faces, except for ----------Suzuki,who had his hand up. "Patrick Henry, 1775." He said. *"Very good!

Who said 'Government of the People, by the People, for the People, shall not perish from the Earth'"?

Again, no response except from Suzuki. "Abraham Lincoln, 1863.", said Suzuki.

*The teacher snapped "Class, you should be ashamed. Suzuki, who is new to our country, knows more about its history than you do.

"She heard a loud whisper: "F**k the Japs." "Who said that?" she demanded.

Suzuki put his hand up. "Lee Iacocca, 1982."

*At that point, a student in the back said, "I'm gonna puke [vomit]"

The teacher glares and asks "All right! Now, who said that?"

*Again, Suzuki says, "George Bush [Sr.] to the Japanese Prime Minister, 1991."

Now furious, another student yells, "Oh yeah? Suck this!"

Suzuki jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the teacher, "Bill Clinton, to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!"

*Now with almost a mob hysteria someone said, "You little shit. If you say anything else, I'll kill you."

Suzuki frantically yells at the top of his voice,"[California >Congressman] Gary Condit to Chandra Levy 2001!'

(The teacher fainted.) And as the class gathered around the teacher on the floor, someone said, "Oh shit, we're f**ked!"

And Suzuki said, "Americans,... in Iraq 2004!"

Apple, bloggers, etc.

While many people feel that bloggers should be given the same rights as journalists, do they equally feel that bloggers should also equally follow whatever regulations and laws professional journalists need to follow?

Fixing Charlie's Computer
POSTED AT 06:26 AM in General

At long last, Charlie finally came over with his laptop. What he wanted was a reformat and reinstallation of Windows. Instead, I simply fixed the real problems. A ton of spyware/trojan that seemed to keep downloading viruses as I worked on it.

It was definitely pretty bad when I got it. Took forever to start, and Explorer and most of the associated functions could not be used (control panel, folders, etc.), and Adaware would hang trying to fix the ~250 spyware. Nothing a little messing around with msconfig and safe mode didn't fix though. :D Then came Hijack This, Microsoft Antispyware (believe it or not, it's good and catches stuff Spybot and Adaware can't catch, but that's probably because MS didn't make it, they bought it ), followed by manual deletion of some stuff that I know are definitely bad but for some reason the programs can't catch and I'm still not quite sure what it is (it creates a bunch of semi-randomly named files in your windows directory, but you can tell they're "wrong" because they all have the same size).

Anyways, he left with a much faster computer and Firefox installed and he's actually on AIM again (because he can finally use it again). :D

Since this is not the first time I had to deal with spyware messing up people's computers really badly (the last time was my cousin's computer I think a couple months ago), I think it should be part of the mandatory interview test for tech support jobs like Rescomp.

Good news bad news
POSTED AT 03:34 AM in General

For some reason, the first bus driver today refused to take any money from me. He covered the slots for money and told me that I couldn't do it. I'm not quite sure why. Perhaps he thought I was still a student who forgot his ID?

But then, after getting to Safeway, I realized I didn't bring my bank card, so I didn't really have enough money. Not wanting to waste that earlier generosity, I walked home. It's actually not that bad. I've run to Safeway before 1st year in college. From there to my old bus stop (in front of Catherine's place) takes about 17 or so minutes, about the same amount of time it would take for me to get to Soda. Then add another 7-8 minutes to get home.

Nice weather today too.

David's visit
POSTED AT 03:10 AM in General, Gaming

So he arrived about an hour earlier and an hour later than expected. You didn't read that wrong. He was supposed to arrive at 10, but his flight was delayed so he thought he'd arive at 12, but then he actually arrived at 11.

We basically played some card/board games after that. First was the game he brought, Star Munchins. First and third games were frought with misplayed rules, but I only won the last game. Then we tried Lord of the Ring: Confrontation, where I beat him both times, although my being experienced in the game is probably why, since that game has completely no luck element in it. Finally we ended the night with a game of San Juan, where I had almost the perfect play, and won 56-36.

David's visit continued
POSTED AT 11:59 PM in General

Woke up when he came into the room to use my computer for email. Then showed him stuff before we went to La Burrita where he got a burrito while I got a chicken enchilada. Then we went phone shopping for him/his sister, then back to my place to watch more stuff, then out to actually let his sister buy the phone, then we had boba at Quickly, then we watched more stuff at my place before finally going to Lisa's place to help prepare dinner/dessert. Then their parents came and we had dinner and stuff and then I got a ride home while David went home to Cupertino.
