All Hallow's Eve
POSTED AT 08:01 PM in General

As expected, the preschool house on my block was fully decked out in lights and all sorts of Halloween stuff. Quite a few others were open to trick-or-treaters as well.

It's actually the first time I've actually seen this stuff. Living in and around gated apartments in previous years meant that it usually couldn't be done.

Showed one of the new students a free newspaper that I read. Interesting reactions.

Kids these days.

School stuff
POSTED AT 02:23 AM in General

Looks like many classes will have stuff due today (Tuesday now).

Scheduling sucks, they're thinking of cancelling the same class that was cancelled last year again.

Finally finished reading A Feast For Crows. Took a little more than a month.

Go
POSTED AT 03:24 AM in General

Heh interesting. Played some games of online Go with Charlie. Generally completely dominated him, especially on the bigger board. As in, winning by about 150-300 points. But even so, I can't beat the computer on a 9x9 board even when I'm given a 2 piece handicap. O_o

Winter sucks
POSTED AT 10:00 PM in General

All this coldness and early sunsets is really bad. Makes me not wanna get out of bed. Makes me not wanna go outside. Makes me not wanna do anything productive.

But it's not like I have a choice. Last month = cram month.

Hentai

"Hentai" the professor said to this girl as I was waiting for the elevator. After some grunting and other sounds he then proceeded to say "Japanese Sexuality"

Some updates

Big cheating scandal uncovered. Broken SVN = headache. Together = the weekend.

Landlady treated us to a buffet today for thanksgiving, which was pretty nice.

National Games Week
POSTED AT 03:28 AM in General

Yeah, it's this week.

Coincidentally, my Settlers of Catan group met today as well. New location is a lot closer, more within walking distance, and it's not a bar. It closes a lot earlier though.

Played with the Cities and Knights expansion. Wheat was once again my savior after a very bad opening, and eventually sneaked a win. That's 3 wins so far out of 5 games.

It's also Thanksgiving this week, so I get a tiny bit of break.

Thanksgiving
POSTED AT 02:58 AM in General

Mmm, Thanksgiving!

Wednesday class was actually cancelled.

Thursday went over to my aunt's place. Cousin brought his girlfriend. Played a game of Caylus with him and his cousin. My cousin won. Watched 50 First Dates, thought it a little wonky from a CogSci view. Another cousin went off to Best Buy at 3:30 to start Black Friday's shopping spree. I was already in bed. Woke up to my cousin's loud loud snoring once. O_o

Left after lunch for BST gathering. Watched Happy Feet. More "realistic" 3D animation movie with the usual individualism message prevalent in these types of movies with a sprinkling of environmentalism to boot. Lots of kids. We actually skipped our actual showing for the one 45 minutes later because the first one was too full and we'd be completely separated. Oh yeah, by me it was Joyce and her friend, David, Aaron, and Sophia, with Nancy and Jenny joining us for dinner at Little Fat Lamb, the restaurant we couldn't go to for David's birthday. I guess the most interesting thing about this place was the amount of stuff they added to the broth that's not found in other hot pot places, and the half and half pots they had.

Our traditional stand-in-the-parking-lot was done right next to their heater, so it was nice, then we went to have some Tapioca and talk a bit more before finally going home.

And now it's busy busy time.
