Politics revisited

*sigh* This is why I do not like Hillary. This, in my mind, is the sort of "experience" she represents. There's no guarantee that Obama will be any better, and I'm sure cognitive dissonance influences my perception, but I'd rather take a gamble on the unknown than choose what is known to be... unethical.

Then again, I'm sure there are those who believe this is the stuff that makes strong leaders.

It's too bad I can't vote, and even with the best of paperwork and luck, assuming I actually want it, I'd probably miss the next election too.

Oh, and man do I hate taxes. At least I should be getting money back given past trends.

Dreams
POSTED AT 12:56 AM in General

I keep having this recurring dream of traveling with friends, then somehow always being the one who lost/forgot my travel documents and then having lots of problems. But somehow it also ends up turning out fine (either I find the documents or alternatives are made).

The significance of the dreams is pretty clear for me though it ties quite a few different things together in one dream.

Oh, and thanks to everyone who inquired about my health!

Hey look, someone who's not an idiot for once. Then there was Jack Thompson (anti-gaming lawyer) defending Mass Effect against Fox last week. What's the temperature down in Hell?

On a related note, it's nice being able to talk to people again who genuinely appreciate the odder side of my sense of humor and with whom I can just be myself without having to self-censor or feel like I'm being judged for it.

On an unrelated note, today's Muni was incredibly crowded. Hope you people have been out voting, unless you're a Clinton supporter, in which case, I hope you stayed home.

Ugh @ California. Very disappointing.

On the other hand, I'm happy to report that San Francisco and Berkeley at least voted for Obama. And technically people consider a tie to be a win for Obama since he was losing before.

Oh, and what was with the police at my block tonight? They pretty much cordoned off the street on both sides to my block with flares and stuff. Wonder if it'll be in tomorrow's police report in the newspapers.

New year's
POSTED AT 11:07 PM in General

Hmm, that was almost a 12 hour work day. At least we got free pizza for dinner.

Also, over the course of new year's celebration, had 4 free meals. 1 by my landlady, 1 at work, and 2 with relatives.

Weirdo
POSTED AT 01:03 AM in General

Hmm, ok, I'm gonna do something stupid and embarrassing on Thursday.

It's the kinda stuff that could get people into Internet infamy if they actually put some effort into it. I'm not motivated enough.

Of course, though I'm saying this now, I may be too lazy to actually follow through with it in a few days.

And still more politics

Clinton camp reimburses; landlord to donate check to Obama campaign

If she can't handle simple matters like paying the rent or cleaning services until the people she's stiffing goes to the media, why should we believe she'd be "ready on day one" if she got elected?

Also, possibly more damning: Clinton Campaign "Rented" Donor List to Bill Clinton Financier

Bias... of a different sort
POSTED AT 12:53 AM in General

Ok, to make my posts a teeny weensy less biased, here's Hillary's new ad for Wisconsin.

And here's a woman's take on why women should vote Hillary (a little outdated but that sentiment continues even now)
Hillary Clinton Has a Vagina and So Do I. For a new take, NYT's op-ed

And NYT's endorsement of Clinton

Here's another article that shows some McCain/Obama interaction.
Wilson questions Obama's anti-war credentials in Clinton endorsement ("Obama wouldn't know the difference between an RPG and a bong")

And finally, here's a few requisite smears on Obama by Fox News (though Fox is generally better known for making a fool of themselves than successfully attacking people)
Fox News Radio's Tom Sullivan aired "side-by-side comparison" of speeches by Hitler and Obama

Fox News host Banderas called Obama a "Halfrican"

Ok, now that's over with, here's some other videos.

Telecom immunity bill voting record
POSTED AT 08:40 AM in General

Senator voting record on getting the telecom spying immunity provision removed. Take a look at how Obama, Clinton, and McCain voted.

Experience, change, and getting things done indeed.

(If you don't get it, I think the telecom immunity provision is a Bad Thing)

Aziza
POSTED AT 12:54 AM in General

So yeah, yesterday after work went to meet up with Joyce and Sophia at Joyce's office building then we went over to Aziza for our hangout. We both got presents from Joyce too (thanks Joyce! )

We each ordered the tasting menu and.... wow, we were stuffed before our entrees were even there. I think if I wasn't feeling sick I could've actually eaten more. As it were, it was a struggle. 3 hour meal, then 1 hour of resting afterwards before we could go home. Haha. Sophia's lamb shanks is a pretty good value in terms of portions. The rabbit and squab that Joyce and I had were a lot smaller in portion size. I think if I had ordered the lamb shanks I wouldn't have even bothered and just asked to have the entire thing boxed.

No longer sick today but don't really have my appetite back yet (I'm amazed I couldn't finish half the fried rice I got for dinner). Probably only 1/3, even though I was feeling quite hungry before I started.

Trying to get people to go to the House of Prime Rib some day.

Yet more politics
POSTED AT 04:48 AM in General

D: @ Obama. Granted, that doesn't include non-monetary favors that may have been called in from over the years.

:D @ Obama for a good comeback at Clinton's attacks.

Naturally Faux (sorry, Fox) News tries to spin it negatively

Meanwhile, why does Clinton continue to refuse to disclose her tax returns unless she gets the nomination? That's just really suspicious.

Oh, and sorry if you're tired of the politics stuff, I'll try to cut it down.

Futurama
POSTED AT 09:41 PM in General

Just finished watching the movie today.

Still probably one of my favorite animated shows because it's the only one that's actually made me come close to crying so many times (3). And it's mainly a comedy. That's what's so neat about it.

Warning: I *strongly* recommend you watch the TV series before watching the movie though since the movie does contain important spoilers for some episodes.

Slanted Door
POSTED AT 11:15 PM in General

Went there with Shubha and Akther after work. So not used to that kinda place (booze and we were at the counter too).

Their appetizers are actually a pretty good portion (and the price matches too), at least the one I ordered and ended up eating 'cause I didn't realize Akther didn't eat pork, and Shubha doesn't eat meat. 'twas nice finally getting to meet Akther. Nice guy. Got the 3-question treatment as well from him (was she ever arrested, does she have any kids, was she ever a man). They had another meetup to go to afterwards though.

Anyway, given there was a debate tonight, which I missed since I was at above dinner, so here's a look at the actual senate track record of Obama and Clinton. And here's some silliness by Clinton on why it's ok to undemocratically steal the nomination.

Edit: Commentary on the debate that's being echoed on forums.

Also, for the people who don't know, the Dilbert comics from last week were in direct reference to a real life event.
